I wait alone in my bed
i hear the ticks the clock makes
and the creeks of steps on floors
and each bit when my heart breaks

Each sound surpasses the other
a rhythm with no interruption
i lay my heart right out for you
bare with no protection

I’m waiting to hear it
anxiously by the phone
then rejection sets in
there is no call, no special tone

I’m haunted by your voice
and long for whispers in my ear
for kisses on my neck
while you take me with no fear

Your beautiful eyes
makes it hard for me to form words

makes me weak beyond my years

My thoughts of you
are so vivid and alive but dear
please when i open my eyes

There are duvets, blankets, shawls
yet it’s still cold, it’s cool
